Increase Funding for Childhood Cancer
The journey is not just emotionally draining but financially devastating. A staggering one in four families lose more than 40% of their annual household income due to the expenses of childhood cancer treatment. Furthermore, one in three families face significant disruptions in their work life, with many forced to quit when their allotted Family Medical Leave is exhausted.

Despite some assistance with medical bills, many families find themselves on the brink of losing their homes due to missed monthly payments. At Book for Hope®, we strive to alleviate some of this burden. We provide an emergency envelope to families with a child actively undergoing cancer treatment. This envelope contains a $150 preloaded VISA card, a $100 fuel card, and a $100 restaurant card. We also commit to paying one monthly bill for each family for as long as their child is in active treatment.

The situation is even more challenging for families in Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois and Northern Tennessee where children cannot receive cancer treatment locally. Travel and time off work become an inescapable reality for these families.
